Soran University Holds Civil Defense Related Accidents Workshop
Soran University held a civil defense training workshop for faculty and staff on Monday, February 10, 2025. The workshop was attended by AP. Dr. Rizgar Said Hussain, Soran University President’s Assistance for Student Affairs, Dr. Karmand Hamad, Dean of the Faculty of Arts, Karwan Ali Haidar, Director of the Soran Civil Defense Directorate, faculty and students.
The event began with Dr. Karmand, on behalf of Soran University, thanking the Soran Civil Defense Directorate for their collaboration and emphasizing the importance of continued workshops.
Lieutenant colonel Karwan Mirawdli, Director of the Soran Civil Defense Directorate, highlighted the significance of such activities in minimizing accidents.
The workshop focused on educating teachers and staff about the causes and types of fires, familiarizing them with fire prevention equipment and its proper usage, and teaching them how to manage dangerous situations safely until civil defense teams arrive.
The training was divided into two parts: a theoretical session covering the topics, followed by a practical session where participants learned how to use fire extinguishers and handle liquefied cylinder fires.
The university plans to continue these workshops with the following schedule:
Monday, February 17, 2025: Faculty of Science and Scientific Research Centre, Farsat Sufi Hall, 10:00 AM
Sunday, February 23, 2025: Faculty of Education, Martyr Zeravan Hall, 10:00 AM
