SU’s Climate Change Research Center Participates in the COP29 International Conference


As the first research center in Iraq and the Kurdistan Region, Soran University's (SU) Climate Change Research Center is taking part at COP29 International conference. 

Following the inauguration of the first climate change research center on October 17, 2024, at Soran University, It has put the University  in front of an important scientific and national responsibility, which is to direct the higher education system in the Kurdistan Region and the wider region through human investment in climate change science.

Prof. Dr Kamal Kolo, Head of the Climate Change Research Centre at SU, along with the KRG negotiating delegation, is  currently in Baku, the capital city of  Azerbaijan to take part in the COP29 climate change conference.


 Dr. Samir Hamad, Head of the Scientific Research Centre of Soran University, said that they attach great importance to the participation of Dr. Kamal Kolo,  and with the support of SU Presidency,  they will  work on human investment in this field for this academic year and upcoming years.

Dr. Samir stated that the primary task of Soran University's Scientific Research Center is to create (regional data) on climate change-related issues in the Kurdistan Region in the near future.
