Soran University Lecturer Publishes a Book on Pragmatics

Asst. Prof. Dr. Amir Ahmed Hamdamin, a lecturer in the Department of Arabic at the Faculty of Arts, University of Soran, has published a book titled: Pragmatics of Narrative Discourse – The Novel "Zarayeb al-Abeed" as a Model.

This book discusses the concept of pragmatics as a linguistic and critical theory that examines literary, cultural, artistic, and aesthetic phenomena from the perspective of the pragmatics of language. It particularly focuses on analyzing discourse by relying on its content and the speech acts it produces, which carry various functions and purposes.
The book seeks to transfer this theory and these perspectives into a practical and critical approach for analyzing modern novelistic texts, taking into account the distinctive characteristics of the new changes in style and foundations. It also demonstrates that the concepts of pragmatics can be applied to the novel as a text that operates between reality and imagination.

Note: This book was published by the Directorate of Media, Printing , and Publishing of Nergal – Mosul.
