Soran University Participates in Erasmus+ TRANSITION Academic Workshops and Field Visits in Italy and Portugal
Within the framework of the Erasmus+ TRANSITION Project, Soran University participated in a series of academic workshops and field visits held in January 2026 at Sapienza University of Rome (Italy) and the University of Évora (Portugal). These activities were conducted as part of Work Package 4 (Training and Capacity Building).
As one of the partner institutions in the Erasmus+ TRANSITION Project, Soran University took part in a range of field visits and academic workshops aimed at strengthening academic capacities and enhancing international cooperation.

The participants were involved in hands-on training sessions, academic discussions, and visits to archaeological sites and cultural institutions in both host countries.
Visit to Sapienza University of Rome
The program began in Rome, where Sapienza University hosted a full day of workshops and practical academic activities focusing on international frameworks for cultural heritage protection and on how universities can apply these frameworks to support the safeguarding of minority cultural heritage. Academic staff and experts from Sapienza University and international organizations contributed to the sessions.
On the second day, participants visited major historical and archaeological sites in Rome, as well as the Vatican.
Visit to the University of Évora, Portugal
On the third and fourth days, a field visit to the University of Évora was conducted, focusing on approaches to the development and management of cultural heritage and the role of universities in the protection, strengthening, and sustainable development of cultural heritage.
As part of the same program, participants also visited several cultural heritage sites near the city of Lisbon that are preserved using scientific methods.
These visits provided an important opportunity for academic exchange, strengthened teaching and research capacities, and expanded international partnerships between Soran University and partner universities in Europe and Yemen.
