Soran University Holds its 16th Graduation Ceremony
On Saturday, November 29, 2025, at the Soran University campus, the 16th graduation ceremony for the 2025 academic year was held under the slogan “Toward Innovation”, in the presence of the esteemed Mullah Mustafa Barzani, a significant number of government officials, parliamentarians, party and organizational representatives, students, and the graduates’ families.
After the graduates from all faculties of the university entered the ceremony venue, the segments of the 16th graduation ceremony of 2025 officially began. 
At the start, in honor of the pure souls of the martyrs, all attendees stood for one minute of silence while the national anthems of Iraq and Kurdistan were played. During the ceremony, Asst. Prof. Dr. Sherwan Sharif Qurtas, President of Soran University, delivered a speech. This was followed by a speech from Dr. Amir Shali, Deputy Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research. The graduates’ speech was presented by Lajan Qachakh Abdullah, a graduate of the 16th graduating class.
Subsequently, Asst. Prof. Dr. Rizgar Saeed, Assistant President of the University for Student Affairs and Chairman of the Higher Committee for the 16th Graduation Ceremony, read the graduates’ oath on behalf of the 16th graduating class.
Afterward, the deans of the faculties requested permission from the University President to award the certificates to the graduates. The President of the University, on behalf of the University Council, granted the certificates.
Established in 2009, Soran University currently consists of six faculties, four centers, and 31 different academic departments. In this graduation round, 1,211 graduates received their bachelor’s degrees in various specialties.
