Soran University Launches "Directing Skills Towards the Labor Market" Course
On Monday, September 1st, 2025, a professional training course titled "Directing Skills Towards the Labor Market" was launched at Soran University. The event was attended by Asst. Prof. Dr. Sherwan Sharif Qurtas, President of Soran University; members of the university council; Mr. Hakim Teli, Deputy Supervisor of Soran Independent Administration; and Mr. Karzan Nuri, a representative of the Barzani Charity Foundation.
The week-long course is a joint initiative between Soran University and the Barzani Charity Foundation, supervised by the university's Career Development Center. The opening ceremony featured several speeches. Asst. Prof. Dr. Sherwan Sharif Qurtas emphasized the importance of continuous collaboration as a core scientific duty and a point of pride for the university, aimed at creating broader opportunities for students and the community.
Subsequently, Mr. Hakim Teli, Deputy Supervisor of the Soran Independent Administration, presented insights on professional beginnings and steps toward achieving career goals, highlighting pathways for students’ future success.
Then, in a speech by Mr. Karzan Nuri, representative of the Barzani Charity Foundation, the objectives of the professional course were outlined in detail, with emphasis on the most critical practical stages in the labor market and skill development.
Two specialized sessions for the first day of the course were delivered by the key-note speakers and trainers: Mr. Saro Qadir, with a session titled "Vision for Work and the Productive Individual in the Barzani Approach," and Ms. Staff Aso, with a session titled "The Relationship Between Charitable and Voluntary Work in Creating and Finding Job Opportunities."
Additionally, a detailed discussion was held on the aspirations of youth and their ambitions in the labor market, alongside the demands of employers in the Kurdistan Region.
Finally, with the inclusion of several points and observations, and by opening the floor for questions from participants, the first day of the course concluded successfully.
