The 11th Student Conference Kicks off at Soran University

On Tuesday, April 29, 2025, the 11th Student Conference was held at Soran University under the slogan "Our Capabilities and Competencies Are Our Future," . The event was attended by Asst.Prof. Dr. Sherwan Sharif Qurtas, President of Soran University, members of the University Council, Hakim Tely, Deputy Supervisor of the Soran  Independent Administration, faculty, and students.

The conference began with attendees listening to the "Ay Raqib" anthem, while observing  moments of silence, after which the conference proceedings commenced.

Speeches Segment:

Asst.Prof. Dr. Rizgar Saeed Hassan, Assistant to the University President for Student Affairs and Chair of the Conference Organizing Committee, delivered a speech on behalf of the committee, discussing the preparations, objectives, and goals of the 11th Student Conference.

Subsequently, Asst.Prof. Dr. Sherwan Sharif Qurtas, President of Soran University, gave a speech, congratulating the students for conducting scientific research and participating in the conference. In part of his speech, he highlighted the students' efforts: "Our students, with effort, dedication, and seriousness, worked tirelessly, persevered, and overcame obstacles. They not only succeeded but also turned challenges and barriers into opportunities to acquire knowledge, skills, and competencies. These abilities and knowledge illuminate their present and shape their future for themselves, their people, and their country. I want to thank them, congratulate them, and urge them to continue the process of science, knowledge, and research."

Then, Hakim Tely, Deputy Supervisor of the Soran  Independent Administration, delivered a speech, emphasizing the importance of the student conference: "Today, we are delighted to participate in this significant conference. The research and projects presented by students over two days, based on scientific and academic standards, are highly valuable and can serve as a foundation for important projects for the development of Kurdistan and the Soran  Independent Administration. Through this conference, Soran University has reaffirmed its commitment to scientific principles and standards."

Panels Segment:

Two panels were held:

First Panel: "Today's Student, Tomorrow's Strength"

Second Panel: "Through Research, We Advance the Nation"

Afterward, Asst.Prof. Dr. Sherwan Sharif Qurtas, President of Soran University, awarded certificates of participation to the panel moderators and panelists.

On the first day of the conference, an exhibition of student projects was held, showcasing a number of student-crafted works.

The 11th Student Conference at Soran University, spanning two days, featured 51 scientific research papers adhering to scientific research standards and methodologies, along with 12 posters, presented by students from all scientific departments of Soran University.

The conference aims to provide students with an opportunity to identify issues and propose appropriate solutions through their research, ideas, and intellectual contributions. It also serves as a platform for the private and public sectors to closely engage with the scientific activities of university students, fostering mutual benefits.
