A Workshop on "Core Standards" Assessment Held at Soran University

The Kurdistan Accrediting Association for Education (KAAE) held a workshop on the accreditation process. 
A workshop on the accreditation process was held at Soran University on Wednesday, February 12, 2025, by The Kurdistan Accrediting Association for Education (KAAE) in the Kurdistan Region,.  The workshop focused on "Core Standards" and was attended by Soran University President, AP.Dr. Sherwan Sharif Qurtas, Dr. Honar Khoashawi Issa, secretary of the (KAAE), members of the University Council, heads of scientific departments and directors of university directorates held a workshop entitled "Core Standards" at Soran University. 
The workshop is part of the Kurdistan Regional Government's (KRG) plan and programme to give accreditation  to higher educational institutions and centers to promote transparency and institutionalization.
After several discussions between Soran University and the Accreditation Association, as well as Soran University's readiness for this process, it was decided to commission Soran University along with Salahaddin, Sulaymaniyah and Dohuk Universities. 
The workshop was presented by Dr. Honar Issa, Secretary General of the Accreditation Association  for Higher Education Institutions, Centres and Programmes in the Kurdistan Region. 
He presented the workshop in three parts, covering the Accreditation Association 's programs and criteria, guidelines, and the stages of the accreditation process. 
Later, the participants discussed thoroughly the content of the workshop. Following the workshop, a report will be submitted to the Association.  Two weeks later, a team will visit Soran University to conduct an evaluation based on the Association’s criteria. Then a decision will be made to include Soran University in the accreditation process.
The Kurdistan Accrediting Association for Education (KAAE) was established on 22 June 2022 by order of Prime Minister Masrour Barzani. The main objectives of the Association  are: To  assess and give accreditation to the institutions of the Ministries of Education, Higher Education, Scientific Research and, to maintain the quality of teaching and learning equally for all students.
