Soran University Revitalizes Genocide, Gender, and Social Research Center

Soran University (SU) officially relaunched its research center focused on social issues, now named the Genocide, Gender, and Social Research Center (GGSRC), on Tuesday, February 4, 2025.  The ceremony, held under the slogan "A New Horizon in Social Science Research," was attended by SU President AP. In his opening remarks, AP. Dr. Sherwan Sharif Qurtas, SU President, welcomed the guests and expressed his happiness at seeing such a large number of people participating in this important ceremony. He stated that the participation of the attendees is a sign of their importance to science and academia and that they aim to make this gathering a consultative one.

He also highlighted the University’s commitment to the field of social sciences and emphasized the university's ongoing efforts to produce knowledgeable, productive individuals who engage in scientific research and contribute to society. After consultations with teachers and heads of scientific departments, it was decided to restructure and rename the Kurdistan Center for Gender Issues to the Genocide, Gender, and Social Research Center within the Scientific Research Center at Soran University. This center will conduct productive research and contribute to society, as a healthy society means a healthy university.

The GGSRC is an academic research center focusing on education, social justice, gender, discrimination, social injustice, post-war society, and genocide.
