A Soran University instructor records two new species of bacteria named Soran in GenBank
After sampling one of Soran’s main sewage, two new and different types of bacteria were identified after several laboratory tests, diagnosis, and work on DNA sequence.
The two strains belong to a relatively deadly bacteria called Proteus and were registered at the Gene Bank in the United States as new and different strains for the first time and assigned their approval number. They were recorded in Genbank as "Soran," named after Soran city.
It is worth noting that these two types of bacteria were detected by Dr. Karzan Mohammed Khalid, a teacher in the Department of Biology, Faculty of Science, Soran University. This will enable researchers and academics worldwide to learn and compare their work at the National Biotechnology Information Centre. At the same time, it is an important scientific achievement for Soran University to have a name and stature in a global academic center for scientific work.
