The First International Conference on Education Concludes at Soran University


The First International Conference on Education, jointly organized by Soran University, the Lebanese French University (LFU), and Kurdistan University-Erbil, under the theme "The First International Conference on Education for Active Citizenship and Linguistic and Cultural Diversity," has concluded.
The conference took place over three days in the cities of Erbil, the capital of the Kurdistan Region, and Soran. On September 9-10, the conference was held at the Lebanese French University, and Kurdistan University-Erbil respectively, where seven panels were presented. On Thursday, September 11, 2025, the final day of the conference, held at Soran University, was attended by Asst. Prof. Dr. Sherwan Sharif Qurtas, President of Soran University, members of the university council, Halgurd Sheikh Najib, Supervisor of Soran Independent Administration, Haji Talat Bajger, Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Lebanese French University, Dr. Abdulqadir Naqshbandi, President of the Lebanese French University, along with faculty and students. Several sessions were conducted.

Speeches Session:
Asst. Prof. Dr. Sherwan Sharif Qurtas, President of Soran University, delivered a speech in which he welcomed the guests and expressed his delight. He congratulated the three universities for organizing the conference and expressed hope that such collaborative efforts would continue in the future, with greater emphasis placed on them and the conference’s recommendations being utilized.
Subsequently, Halgurd Sheikh Najib, Supervisor of Soran Independent Administration, gave a speech. In part of his address, he highlighted the importance of the conference: “The topics presented and analyzed are valuable and significant, highly important for building education and learning. I am confident that the content of the conference will yield positive outcomes.”
Afterward, a music and song session took place, during which several pieces of music and Kurdish folk songs were performed.
In the subsequent session, the outcomes and recommendations of the First International Conference on Education for Active Citizenship and Linguistic and Cultural Diversity were read by Dr. Benar Farid, Assistant to the President of the Lebanese French University.
At the conclusion, certificates of participation were awarded by Soran University, the Lebanese French University, and Kurdistan University-Erbil to the panelists, panel moderators, and conference organizers.
