Soran University Academic Awarded Prestigious Principal Fellowship in the UK 3 October 2024


Dr Hewa Balisane, Associate Professor and former Dean of the Faculty of Education at Soran University, has been conferred the esteemed title of Principal Fellow (PFHEA) by Advance HE, the United Kingdom’s leading body for teaching and learning enhancement in higher education.  Widely regarded as one of the highest accolades in the UK and internationally, this distinction recognises Dr Balisane’s outstanding and sustained contributions to teaching excellence, academic leadership, and strategic educational development. 

The Advance HE Fellowship scheme, which includes over 200,000 members across 116 countries, reserves the Principal Fellowship for individuals who demonstrate significant and lasting impact on higher education at national or international levels. To date, only around 2,000 academics worldwide have received the PFHEA, underscoring the rarity and prestige of this recognition.

Dr Balisane now joins this elite cohort as one of only two academics in Iraq to attain the title, further affirming his standing as a leader in pedagogical innovation and institutional advancement.
