Soran University Hosts Community Crisis Response Course
As part of ongoing efforts to raise awareness and advance the crisis and disaster response system in the Kurdistan Region and enhancing response capacity, The Joint Crisis Coordination Centre (JCC), in coordination with the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research, is working on institutionalising awareness campaigns in universities. In this context, from 11-14 May 2026, a four-day course was conducted for a number of lecturers from Soran University and Soran Independent Administration, in collaboration with the Kurdistan Foundation.
Throughout the course, participants were trained, both theoretically and practically, on how to respond to and rescue during emergencies. Participants were also introduced to how to carry out rapid evacuation, rescue and response, how to provide first aid, and several other topics.
The courses are being held within the framework of the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the Joint Crisis Coordination Centre and the Kurdistan Foundation, which aims to foster collaborative work to scientifically address crises and prevent disasters.
