Soran University Holds A Tree-Planting Campaign
On Monday, May 4, 2026, with the participation of Asst. Prof. Dr. Sherwan Sharif Qurtas, President of Soran University, members of the University Council, lecturers, staff, and students, carried out a tree-planting campaign on the campus of Soran University under the slogan: “One Seedling and Thousands of Breaths – A Step Towards a Healthier Path.”
The activity was organized by second-year evening students from the Department of Geography (Practical and Environmental Studies). During the campaign, more than 100 trees — including fruit- bearing, shade, and ornamental varieties — were planted.
The second-year evening students of the Department of Geography voluntarily provided all the saplings. The primary objectives of this campaign were to increase the green cover of the Soran University campus, mitigate the effects of climate change and environmental pollution, foster a culture of environmental protection and awareness among students, and provide them with a calmer and healthier environment.
